Recently, I was flipping through videos from 4-5 years ago and was cringing watching an old version of me speak. I thought that reaction was so interesting, because I remember creating those videos and feeling really proud of what I was saying and how I was saying it. At the time, I felt authentically me. Perhaps you relate to this experience?
In this episode, I’m bringing you into my past, performative layers and how I created a new relationship with feeling safe being fully myself, regardless of anyone’s interpretation.
So often, we’re afraid of speaking because we’re afraid of looking back at what we said and being wrong. Or, looking back at the way we said it and feeling embarrassed. Not only are we we holding ourselves back from the evolution that needs to occur to really understand who we are, what we want to say, and how we innately want to say it…but we’re denying ourselves the ability to go through the experience of speaking and identifying those performative layers.
